Scam / Spam / Phishing Explosion

If you wonder why some comments weren’t accepted within a reasonable amount of time: I’m experiencing a sudden and large influx of spam. These include the usual fake comments, which in most cases try to flatter you in a pathetic way (“Hey, great blog, I bookmarked you!”), but also a number of phishing attempts.

It sometimes takes a lot of scamstime to wade through all this crap and find valid comments which accidentally ended up there (false positives). This causes the delays you might experience.

The latest phishing attempt, supposedly sent by a company by the name of Top International, is worthy of some extra attention.

When such a poorly written e-mail says it’s important, it usually isn’t. The link will send you to a domain (Uruguay). What they want you to do is to sign in with your Gmail credentials, after which they can steal your identity.
