It looks like the accessories for Baofeng radios just got a bit more interesting — but it comes with a *very* hefty price tag.
When you can easily buy two UV-5R radios for the price of this adapter, it might be wise to pass on this gadget until the price goes down to a more reasonable level.
- Genuine BaoFeng Tech Bluetooth Dongle (Only Sold by BaofengTech – insure BaofengTech is your selected distributor to guarantee accuracy in receiving what is described)
- Easy pairing process. Stores paired connection to the wireless headset even if the Radio is powered off or adapter is removed from the two-way radio.
- No time delay on either Transmit or Received Audio messages
- Several Push-To-Talk options: use the PTT button on the BaoFeng Tech bluetooth adapter to initiate transmissions or just use your PTT right on your radio
- Compatible with thousands of readily available Bluetooth headsets and other audio accessories. (audio accessories not included)
Price: $84.99, seen on Amazon.com.
The only other Bluetooth adapter I’ve seen available for the Kenwood, Wouxun, Baofeng series is the BT-501. Nice unit, but carries a $120 price tag.
This one seems to be the best deal around right now at $85.

That price has a long wat to come down before its any kind of “deal”
I do like keeping everything hardwired, less gremilins and headaches!

I agree entirely, Steve. Additional devices with their possibly-unique chargers and batteries to charge and settings to set up and pairing – it all adds bits to an equation that SHOULD be kept as simple as possible! Speaker-mic for most environments if you want to keep radio on belt. Noisy environment? Add an earpiece.
This would be really nice if you could pair it to an android phone and use APRSDroid
Exactly my thoughts…

Interesting but only bluetooth device I have is a pair of Motrola MotoRokr S9’s. Of course I paid near $100 for those and now you can get knockoffs for $20. I guess the phone button could be PTT.

Thank you for the post – we are doing everything we can to work on pricing as well! Here is our direct link as well http://baofengtech.com/bluetooth-adapter
I found the Mobilinkd bluetooth kiss TNC with my UV-5RE+ a good combination for APRS with UV-5R & APRSDroid.
