First of all: happy new year! It’s impossible to predict what 2013 will bring us, but I’ll take a shot at it.

1. More UV-5R models
Yes, more, more, more! We now have the Baofeng UV-5R, the UV-5RC, UV-5RD, UV-5RA, UV-5RA PLUS, UV-5RB-CC, UV-5RE, the UV-5R-UU, the UV-5R Whatever…. Internally they’re all the same, but playing with colors, weird looking speaker grills and other cosmetic details seems to sell. Oh, and let’s not forget the BF-F8, BF-F8+, BF-F9 and (probably countless) future varieties, which are UV-5R’s in disguise. And I didn’t even mention the Waccom versions. Sigh.

2. More Chinese Mobile Radios
Let’s see what Baojie/HYS, Kydera (KYD), Anytone and Wouxun will bring us. Interesting times.

TLC Watching Woman

I Watch TLC!

3. Less interesting programs on TV
I’m not really a TV watching couch potato, but I always liked to watch channels like Discovery, National Geographic and Animal Planet. This is changing slowly. Discovery channel should be renamed to ‘Soap Opera Channel’ due to the nature of most shows. Senior Versus junior (once it was about motor bikes), families fishing or digging for gold – oh please, give me a break!!!

Nat Geo is slowly degrading too and, starting 1/8/2013, Animal Planet will be replaced here by TLC. TLC stands for ‘The Learning Channel’, but it doesn’t teach you anything. Content seems to be targeted at women with the brain capacity of a peanut – and women like that can’t be found in this household, nor in my inner circles. The ones I know are way too intelligent and can’t be bothered with watching ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ and crap like that.

4. Solar Maximum
At least, so they say. So far this solar cycle hasn’t been very impressive. I hope for the best and fear for the worst.

5. More friends like you
If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t put time and energy in this blog. Thank you all for reading and commenting!

  1. Mooie foto! Ben ook niet zo een TV man. Enige waar ik soms naar kijk is het journaal. Ka ik ondertussen even rustig koffie drinken. Gelukkig nieuwjaar en veel plezier met de hobby. Ik blijf je blog volgen. 73, Bas

  2. I think there should be more mobile station in Chinese radio.
And more fancy function in Chinese HT radio.
